Azerbaijan Press Council Chief: Iranian Gov’t, Media Fighting Islamophobia
Chairman of Azerbaijan Press Council, MP Aflatun Amashov said Iranian and Azerbaijani news outlets have what it takes to promote religious beliefs and commonalities, adding that the Iranian media and government have done a great job in fighting the Islamophobia campaign in the region and beyond.
Lawmaker Amashov, who was speaking to reporters at the end of the 22nd Press Exhibition in Tehran on Thursday, went on to state that the two neighbours’s governments have agreed to work with the media for the purpose of informing the public of their joint missions, policies and practices in a positive, consistent and credible manner.
According to the Azerbaijani official, Azerbaijan regards Iran as a friendly and close neighbour, for the same reason, expansion of cooperation will leave positive impact on mutual and regional cooperation.
On a recent visit of President Hassan Rouhani to Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani MP said it was very significant as the two sides reached agreements to launch North-South corridor to help deepen mutual and regional economic cooperation.
In conclusion, Amashov thanked the Culture Ministry officials for inviting him to Iran to take part in the annual event, and said, the new MOU cooperation agreement will help the respective countries to share and exchange experience, set up media training workshops, and make optimum use of the existing capacities in their tourism, cultural and social sectors.
