Culture Minister: 400 Private Media Outlets Attend Fair

Some 400 privately run media outlets are taking part in this year’s Internatioanl Press Fair.

Stating the above in a speech during Sunday’s inauguration ceremony, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati said Iranian and foreign media outlets have been cooperating with each others for years but that’s never been enough. He said his ministry plans to strengthen bilateral ties with some 140 foreign media outlets which have offices in Tehran.

Jannati further outlined his ministry’s mandate for the coming year, which is designed to support private media sector, update rules and regulations, evaluate and classify news networks, and promote press and media diplomacy the world over.

The 21st International Press Fair was officially inaugurated on Sunday in a formal ceremony attended by President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members. A number of foreign diplomats, ambassadors and delegates from Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa and Latin America were also in attendence
