Wenhui Daily: Nuclear Deal Facilitating Iran-China Ties

The head of Wenhui Daily’s Tehran Bureau says cultural links between China and Iran have been strengthened in light of the historic nuclear deal.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, November 12, Rong Zhou said in light of the nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1, cultural, economic and political ties with a focus on revival of the Silk Road is set to expand between the two great and ancient Asian countries.

“The idea is to further information exchange and dialogue, and that could be possible through an exchange program involving 500 Iranian and Chinese language students per year. They could learn Farsi and Chinese because without this there is no hope in bridging the language gap,” he added.

The prominent Chinese reporter added that the two countries should also organize cultural exhibitions and forums to exchange ideas to this end. “The current level of ties is far from enough. The two great nations deserve better.”

In conclusion, Zhou said, “We will see a greater number of Iranian tourists in China and even far more Chinese traders and tourists in Iran. Because, why not. We are now two great partners and regional powers. We shouldn't let Western media tell us what we are and what we should do.”

Wenhui Bao, anglicized as the Wenhui Daily, is a major Chinese newspaper published in Shanghai. It was founded in 1938.
