Foreign media representatives visit Pardis Technology Park
A host of foreign media representatives paid a visit to Pardis Technology Park, 20 km east of Tehran, on Monday. The visit was organized by the Science and Technology Department of the Presidential Office.
During the visit, the foreign media representatives talked with officials of the park and produced reports on a modern technology exhibition there.
In an interview with the visiting foreign media representatives, Hamed Niavand, who is in charge of the park’s international affairs, said that Pardis Technology Park has been established to help the country keep distance itself from an oil-dependent economy and move toward a science-based economy.
He added that more than 200 knowledge-based companies are active in Pardis Technology Park and that the government helps them with commercialization of their scientific achievements.
Niavand welcomed the idea of foreign investment in the park and said that foreign investors will be given incentives such as 100-percent property ownership and tax exemption if they put their money into the technology park.
At the end of the visit, a foreign media representative said that Pardis Technology Park is a symbol of innovation in technology, adding that in the post-sanctions era the Islamic Republic of Iran is trying to wean itself off an oil-driven economy and take steps toward adopting a knowledge-based economy instead.
