At 22nd Press Exhibit: Iran, Azerbaijan Ink MOU for Media Cooperation
Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aiming to boost cooperation in media sector.
Iranian Deputy Culture Minister for Press and Information Hossein Entezami and President of Azerbaijan Press Council Aflatoon Amashov signed the MOU in a ceremony Thursday at the 22nd Press Exhibition in Tehran. The officials also agreed to hold talks on promoting media cooperation in other spheres.
According to the MOU, the two sides will run short-term training courses and exchange production teams. They also agreed to link and encourage their respective media outlets to produce and exchange news, reports, photos and other contents in Persian and Azeri languages.
After the signing ceremony, Hossein Entezami said exchanges will be in line with national rules and regulations, adding that they will copy and publish or broadcast each other’s news materials and media contents by mentioning original “sources” and without any interference or suppression.
For his part, Amashov thanked the Culture Ministry officials for inviting him to Iran for the ceremony, and said, “The MOU is also aimed at helping the respective countries to share and exchange experience, set up media training workshops, and make optimum use of the existing capacities in their tourism, cultural and social sectors.”
According to the Azerbaijani official, the agreement is for a three-year period, at the of which it will be extended to help enhance level of bilateral cooperation in the media sector.
