News conference of Abdul Ghader Fayez, the director of the office of Al Jazire T.V of Qatar, with the subject of " The media at the time of war between humanity and politics" :
war is a natural subject between humans. In fact, one cannot categorically say that war is a bad thing because it is part of human history and it is among the most important signs of man. But what shows war as a bad thing, is the people who should pay the price in the war. The price that is paid for power, wealth and politics.
The fundamental stimuli in war is politics. It is here that the importance of the media becomes clear because the media want to cover all the things that happen in the war. Here, it may be possible that an ideology maybe formed that is identified as a collective suicide of the media.
In war, every media comes to the battlefield and wants to reflect the news of the war but consciously or unconsciously takes one side; the sides that accidentally reflects part of the reality of the war. This causes the politicians and political parties to label the media.
The media should know
what they want to say in a war. Sometimes, outside a war and from a particular place, financial and political support of the war, determines what should that media say. Like countries of Yemen, Syria and Iraq in which such things have always happened.
The reality is that such ideology causes the death of the news and the death of the media.
Many of the news that we read, are raw and preliminary that may have some minor problems and complementary news may overshadow them. Exactly like a car manufacturing factory that delivers a car to the people and after a while delivers a complementary and defect-free one of it.
It is here that people if the media should act with policy and due diligence so that this version(of the news) is published with the least problem. Because some mistakes such as political and strategically ones are not correctable and cause problems.
People should know that the correct and valid news are not disseminated from one point. For knowing the reality, the first version if should be collected and converted to a comprehensive and valid and correct news.
Some journalists, between moneyand the truth, choose the first one. In reality, it is not important that the news that they present is valid or not, the only thing that is important for them, is what the owner of the media wishes, and whatever the owners of the media say, they clap for them. But the better method is that we be unbiased and go after the truth, for it is then that the media itself goes after and seeks the journalist.
A reporter should not be a remote control in the hand of the media people.
Iran, among others, is also a country which has been a victim of false news. We read that an Arab man has been executed in Iran
while this happened in Iraq and this is a smear campaign against Iran.
The worst thing that can happen for a media is this that its audience lose their trust in that media. In reality, if the news become equal to propaganda, we should accept that we have reached the end of the journalist and journalism.
